Clients are always asking me questions such as, what position can you guarantee me in Google? or do you have any SEO content for my niche that'll get me straight to the top of Google? Another favourite is what program should I submit to to get to the top of Google's listings?

The Answer

The answer is simpler than you might think, the best thing that you can possibly do to enhance your search engine ranking is offer Original, Useful and Informative content! Google, Yahoo, Bing and any other search engine you can mention want to be the number one search engine and how do they do that? By finding Original, Useful and Informative content!

There will always be search engine optimisation techniques that will give you a boost in the listing but these will always be temporary as soon as the search engines realise that the technique is being used they will program the spiders or bots they use to crawl the internet to ignore the technique and not give it the priority that it obtained previously. And suddenly your great listing spot is gone.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't do what's necessary to make sure that your site can be found, META tags, give all your pages a title etc. But to me this is not SEO it's just common sense that you want to ensure that your site can be found by the engines in the first place.

So in short don't think SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) Instead think OUI (Original, Useful and Informative)
